About Autoimmune.biz

Hi, I’m Jake,

I’m pretty much a goof ball with intention (if that makes any sense), and yes, I wear sunglasses all the time.

My journey started right out of college when I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. This basically meant I would have to deal with painful and bloody diarrhea for the rest of my life. My autoimmune disease affected my colon, so no matter where I was or what I was doing, if my body had to go, then I had to go!

It took me some time to mentally process all of this change. I didn’t know how to cope with immediate changes in my health and life. Anger lead to guilt, which eventually found me a community that I could at least tell them whenever I had some bad gas or worse.

A few years after I was diagnosed, I got married to my high school sweet heart, and we began our marriage journey together with me having a chronic illness.

We moved to Charlotte, NC at the end of 2014, which made me have to see new doctors. Those doctors led to new medications, which ultimately started me on my 3-year-long flare that I could never got out from under.

After trying every single medication that was available for my condition, I decided to get a colectomy, which is a 2-part surgery to have my colon removed, and create what’s called a “J-pouch”, that is a new colon.

There were a number of complications with both surgeries; one of them shutting all my organs down so I couldn’t process foods and sending me to the ICU for a week and half, coming very close to death.

When the dust settled and I was out of the hospitals for good, I wanted to figure out what “normal life” could look like for me and my family. Between 2017 and 2019 I enjoyed traveling, working and living life as a man without a chronic illness.

After a period of time, I knew there must have been a reason I went through everything that I did.

At the end of 2019 I started on a mission to use the experiences I’ve gone through, the lessons I’ve learned, and the skills I’ve acquired, and use them to create a lasting legacy for myself on this earth.

My mission is to help thousands of people with autoimmune diseases create online businesses and income online on their own terms; without over-working, over-stressing, and under-achieving.
